ZumoDrive Version 0.986 For Mac!

Hello everyone!  We just released ZumoDrive version 0.986 for Mac only.  Here are the improvements we've made:

1. The Mac client and ZumoDrive server now support file names containing characters:  \ : * ? " < > |

These characters are invalid as file names on the Windows platform, but they are valid on Mac and Linux.  So you will now be able to add files with these characters in them.  However, if you wish to access those files on a Windows machine, the only way to do so will be via the website.  This will be the case until Microsoft decides to support these characters.

2. We've made some optimizations to the folder linking process.  It has to do with how we handle the uploading of your files.  A whole bunch of technical mumbo-jumbo aside, it basically means that some of your linked folders are now going to be uploaded faster.

This is a relatively minor release.  Both PC and Mac users should stay tuned for our next major release of version 0.987.  That is due out in a few weeks!  In the great words of Porky Pig: "Th-Th-Th-Th-Th-... That's all, folks!"

I like technical mumbo-jumbo. Is it some binary diff wizardry? bsdiff or Courgette perhaps? Please share.

I don't believe you're accurate when you say that Windows doesn't support those characters.

While not generally useful in Win32 applications, I think Window's NTFS file system supports filenames with those characters when marked with the POSIX namespace flag. Then the only reserved unicode characters are NUL and '/'. Have you investigated that route?
